View Full ItineraryYour Spiti adventure begins with an early morning pickup from Manali (6:00-8:00 AM). We cross the engineering marvel that is the Atal Tunnel, then drive via Gramphu and Batal, crossing the majestic Kunzum Pass (15,060 ft) - the gateway to Spiti Valley.
The journey offers breathtaking views of rugged mountains, glacial streams, and if we're lucky, sightings of the elusive Himalayan wildlife. We'll make several scenic stopovers for photos and refreshments.
Arrive in Kaza by evening, where you'll check into your comfortable homestay or hotel. After a warm dinner featuring local Spitian cuisine, rest and acclimatize to the high altitude.
Today we explore the cultural heart of Spiti Valley. Our first stop is the iconic Key Monastery, a 1000-year-old Tibetan Buddhist marvel perched dramatically on a hilltop. Enjoy a guided tour of the monastery's ancient murals, scriptures and prayer halls.
Next, we visit the engineering marvel that is Chicham Bridge, suspended high above a deep gorge. Walk across this spectacular bridge for breathtaking valley views.
After lunch, we tour the highest villages in Asia:
- Langza with its giant Buddha statue overlooking the valley
- Hikkim, home to the world's highest post office
- Komic, the highest village connected by motorable road
Return to Kaza for dinner and overnight stay at the homestay.
Today we journey to two of Spiti's most significant monasteries. First is Dhankar, the ancient capital of Spiti Kingdom, dramatically perched on a cliff. Opt for the hike to serene Dhankar Lake for panoramic views.
Next we visit Tabo Monastery, often called the "Ajanta of the Himalayas" for its exquisite murals and statues dating back over 1000 years. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is one of the most important centers of Buddhist learning.
After lunch, we explore the untouched beauty of Pin Valley National Park, home to rare wildlife like the snow leopard and Siberian ibex. Walk through the picturesque village of Mudh before returning to Kaza.
An early morning departure takes us towards the crown jewel of Spiti - Chandratal Lake (Moon Lake). We drive via Losar village and cross Kunzum Pass again, stopping to pay respects at the Kunzum Mata temple.
After reaching the campsite, we take a short trek (about 2 km) to reach the stunning blue waters of Chandratal, nestled amidst towering peaks. The lake's ever-changing colors and pristine beauty make it one of the most photographed spots in the Himalayas.
As night falls, enjoy stargazing in one of the best dark-sky locations in India. The Milky Way is often clearly visible on moonless nights. Overnight in comfortable tents near the lake.
Wake up to stunning views of the mountains reflected in Chandratal's crystal-clear waters. After breakfast, we begin our return journey to Manali.
We make a scenic stop at Sissu Waterfall, where you can take a short walk and capture photos of this beautiful cascade. The drive takes us back through the Atal Tunnel, with final glimpses of the majestic Himalayas.
Arrive in Manali by 4-6 PM, where your Spiti Soulscape journey concludes. Depart with unforgettable memories of Himalayan landscapes, ancient cultures, and star-filled skies.
